The Power of Keyword Research

keyword-research-imageKeyword research is the core for search engine optimization.  All search engines use key phrases and keywords to identify each web page which are related to these search queries. Keyword phrase research is a process of finding and selecting the best performance keyword phrases that can help the search engines distinguish what each web page is about.  This also helps targeted visitors find your web site.

The process in keyword research is not as simple as you may think.  Today, many people use advanced tools to find those targeted keywords.  I personally use Market Samurai and Google Adwords Keyword Tool.  Not only will a keyword tool such as Market Samurai help you find your keywords to target but it will also help you determine each keyword's competition level as well, which is so key.  You don't want to go into any market if the competition level is too high.  Keywords are a part of your market as well.

When starting the website optimization exercise, more times than not, I see people starting out with "common sense" keywords.  This is a problem.  Most of the time, these keywords are highly competitive and should not be your main focus.  They may look like the obvious keywords but may not match with the keywords your potential buyers and clients are using as their search terms.  Think outside the box and think long tail.

With every successful marketing strategy comes with knowing your audience and how to reach them.  Knowing the location, region, and country of your targeted audience is also crucial.  Analyzing your competition and your audience is a continued process throughout your online marketing.  Many people make the mistake of only doing the research in the beginning.  It's a never ending process when it comes to keyword research, competitive analysis, and customer audience and traffic monetization.  Stay on top of your game within the keyword research and search engine optimization community and you will find yourself ahead of your competition.
